Posted earlier in the thread but I'm thinking of doing a whole comparison one day in the future like I did with the PSV vs 3DS ( http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=141375 )
Right now, I'd go with the Xbox One but I suspect that will change as time goes on. Maybe in even as soon as the next month or so. Anyway
PS4 advantages:
- Lets you play new games faster than Xbox One due to quicker install speeds
- Has a couple of controller tricks the Xbox One doesn't (Speaker, light bar, headphone jack, built in rechargeable battery, touch pad)
- slightly faster interface (and I mean slightly! both are super fast!),
- Better performance for multiplats though I haven't done a head to head myself to see. I trust the pros on this one.
- Cheaper--which is a big deal to a lot of people
- Free games--Looking at the PS Store on PS4 store right now--Resogun, Dead Nation, Outlast (was free. Now it's $19.99), Warframe, Blacklight Retribution, DCU Online ("free to play" but you know how that goes), Zen Pinball.
- More games on the games store.
- PSV remote play is awesome if you have a PSV (Sold seperately)
- Lots of stuff that were expected aren't implemented yet. Fewer apps to choose from compared to Xbox One
- Interface is really bare. It's clean though but just feels like something is missing. Themes or something, I don't know. Matter of opinion on this one.
- Blu Ray player can't play 3D Blu Rays (yet)
- Really cheap "headset" packed in the box
- Can't connect my portable HDD to watch downloaded content yet
- Kinect works REALLY well (if you're the type that's interested--and I am!). Pretty impressive voice and motion controls.
- Running two apps side by side (ie: internet explorer ) is pretty cool
- Interface is more customizeable
- More stuff packed in the box (but you pay for them): Kinect, surprisingly high quality headset, month of XBLG (two more additional weeks if you get Titanfall bundle like I did)
- More apps available to download
- HDMI IN is pretty impressive.
- You can use it to control your TV and Satellite receiver (if you want)
- Price. Mine was $499 with free Titanfall but still, more than the PS4 with a game. PS4 with a game and a camera on the other hand.....
- Store is a mess to navigate
- Less games avaialbe to download
- "free" games are just glorified demos (Killer Instinct, Project Spark, Kinect Sports)
- Multiplats are better on PS4
- Still uses AA batteries (I use rechargeable ones I had for years but others will likely hate not having a built in battery pack)
- Smart Glass isn't implemented very well, yet. As far as I can tell, it only works on movies.
- Can't connect my portable HDD to watch content, yet.
- Voice chat/Party mode
- Browser experience
- Starting a game from the powered off mode or quick start/stand by modes
- Friends activity
- Video upload/Streaming
- both are equally silent running.
- Online experience
- Library quality. At this point, the Xbox One had more games that I PERSONALLY would like to play. That will probably change soon.
- Importance of multi-media functionality.
- controller comfort. Both are damn near perfection, imo.
- Very low price and, from what I've seen, PS4/Xbox One titles really aren't huge leap over the U (Some of you probably stopped reading right there but really, there isn't a single game for either I've played that didn't seem at least somewhat possible on the 7th gen consoles. Perhaps inFamous will change that.)
- Wii U controller is tricked out with virtually every controller feature possible.
- Best second screen option available. Never glitches.
- Strongest library (matter of opinion, of course)
- Miiverse community is like Twitter for gamers and is well implemented and used creatively in many games.
- Absolute best web browser of all three consoles
- TVii lets you text chat with others while watching your favorite TV shows (it's an addiction for me!)
- Pro controller holds its own against the newer controllers as far as comfort. Battery life is INSANE.
- Like the Xbox One, you can control your TV and Satellite with the controller
- Off screen play lets you play without a TV at all (like PS4 and Vita, only more stable)
- Backwards compatible with the Wii
- Free online
- Weakest console of the three
- Third party support is rapidly fading
- Controller has short battery life (I often keep mine plugged in while I play)
- Pro Controller has digital triggers instead of analog
- Short range of Off screen play
- Very few non-gaming apps to speak of.
- External HDD can only be used as additional storage, not for additional media
- No Blu Ray, DVD, or even CD support!
- Cross game chat, party system, game invites, etc. are either broken or non-existent.
- Virtually no free content to speak of.
