They didn't say that. They said that the definition for native resolution might be too vague to describe what's really going on. The image is an un-upscaled 1080P image but not every part of the pipeline is a full 1080p at the same time. They go on to explain that having certain parts of an image show at a lower resolution is common but those games are still called native 1080p.

Yeah, well its not native 1080p and they shouldn't call it that. I presume they won't pull that in the future.

Also, why didn't they use that technique for the campaign?


We'll that depends on how you define native. The image isn't upscaled and lets be honest, that's what most people are talking about when they say a picture is native.

I'm not sure why they didn't maybe because they decided that a higher framerate was needed for MP but not so much so for SP.
