I'm just curious people here own/have shot a firearm in their life. I shoot yearly now at the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) National Rifle Matches in Ohio. Shooting is a way for me and my dad to connect, it's something we do together.
My view on the Supreme Court looking at this: they shouldn't. Thats what I think. There's obviously a reason why this isn't looked at very often.
Let's look at it this way: if firearms are outlawed for the average joe, it wont stop a criminal getting one from the black market. Gun related crime would go down, but thats it.
And another thought if guns are outlawed. School shootings. They are terrible, terrible things committed by losers. So whats to stop a messed up kid from going on the net and finding a way to make a small pipe bomb and strapping it to themselves and blowing themselves up? Heck, a kid could just jump in a car and start driving all over campus in the morning or when school lets out and run over kids.
Guns for self defense do work. A man tried to break in my house when my mom was pregnant with me and she pulled out a revolver, the burglar saw it, and ran off. He got captured later on and it turned out this guy was a convicted rapist. I'm damn proud my mom was able to pull out a revolver and threaten the man away with it.
The U.S. is a gun culture and the consequences with being that culture are evident, but it's something I can live with.
