na...... thats not the point, the point is to release games that look better and play better. look at titanfall. not 1080p but rumored to be 30fps on the 360.
Also a steady pace of 720p is an upgrade over the previous generation as they didn't run that res on most games with a lot of content.
I don't see a problem with having 1080p but to stop adding to a game when the "what we can do in 1080p" limit arives. It would be a bad idea to stop adding to the game at that point.
As for those infamous pics, I don't know or care too much about that story but the e3 screen shots look like animated cinema and the actual screens looks like video games....
