I think people underestimate the power of SP even in an MP focused game. The SP campaign is how you get to know the world and the characters that inhabit it. I thought the campaign mode in Titanfall would attempt to do that, but no one talks about the Titanfall campaign.
Maybe the Titanfall movie, TV series, or books can take care of that side of things. Maybe the SP fills in the details of the world and makes it the player feel more connected to it?! A loss in Titanfall's campaign should hurt and have consequences.
