Heterosexuality is needed for reproduction. Without it we'd have gone instinct. That's why it's the norm.
Why do some hate homosexuals I'm not too sure actually. I don't think religion is the biggest reason. I think it's just that the child grows up only seeing heterosexuals therefore he innately feels like homosexuality is wrong and shouldn't happen.
