How do you know that it wouldn't have been just as big though? Doesn't that contradict your "what if" logic. I believe imo that it would have been just as big because then EA would have marketed accordingly to fill their shooter hole that Medal of Honor now gives them. Since EA won't do an annual release of BF along with MoH flopping and with a lot of negative reception of performance for BF it would have provided EA a little cushion for the backlash they continue to get for BF. Add this to other 3rd party games that either get direct marketing from their own publishers or MS/Sony doing cross marketing on their behalf. (Exclusive logo on commercials etc.) A game doesn`t have to be exclusive to a be a big deal. If the game or franchise is great it will blow up on it`s own merits like CoD, AC, BF, Batman etc.. |
Ultimately you're trying to prove a negative.
The fact is we're here, now, and Titanfall is a massive hit due to Respawn's good development and Microsoft's huge, expensive and highly effective marketing. If you think EA could ever have matched Microsoft's marketing then, with respect, I'd suggest you're misunderstanding their logistical and financial position in the market.
