The supreme court was put in place to decide if laws are constitutional, not to change the meaning of the constitution as times changed.
If the constitution is outdated, we have a process to change it, it is called an amendment. The founders knew that changes would be needed, and put a process in place to allow that to happen.

Everyone one in America is poor, hungry and afraid? Compared to revolutionary times? Huh? If you think that Americans fear thier govenment now, what do you think the whole revolution was about, if not getting rid of an oppressive govenment that was 10 times worse that even the worse Bush Haters think that we have today. Not to mention the relative wealth we enjoy in American compared to what it was like in 1776.
