Why should poor behavior in the past justify this sort of "mud slinging" in the present?

So hypothetically speaking, for next gen if Sony is in the position MS, or Nintendo is in now, it would be ok for MS, or Nintendo fans to bait PS users? Since past actions justify present actions.
