evidently so. Sony have been launching more new AAA IP's than nintendo do, every single year for well over a decade now.
edit: and when im buying uncharted, atleast I dont have to decide about picking between a red and blue version or X and Y, or whatever other bullshit they can think of. |
lol
Of course Sony has launched new IPs. Are we supposed to applaud that? If you make game series centered on the characters and the story, these series need to end. That is why Naughty Dog has made Uncharted and then Last of Us. Here is hoping Uncharted 4 doesn't suck. Sometimes stories just need to end.
And Mario games. First of all, there are like 10 Mario games. I'm sick of hearing people say that there are too many. I think this is pretty obvious, but a game like Mario KART or Mario TENNIS doesn't count. They use the Mario character. That's it. Because Mario is cool.
ACTUAL Mario games. They are only made when the hardware gives a new possibility, that's Miyamoto's philosophy. Compare Mario Galaxy to 3D World. They couldn't be more different. They are both groundbreaking in their genre in terms of gameplay. And they are both masterpieces of craftmanship (the music, the artstyle, everything). Yet people give Nintendo shit for continuing with this series, that should NEVER end, that is amazing in every iteration.
I'm not here to defend that Nintendo is perfect. Nintendo is formed by PEOPLE, every person is different, some geniuses, some just do a good work. That's why Mario 3D World is some of the best shit ever, and the New Super Mario Bros. games are merely OK. That's why Kirby for 3DS will be fun probably, but in the end is just a worse imitation of Sakurai's perfect entry for SNES.
But anyone who says the Wii U is not worth owning (I'm not saying right now, that's personal preference, I'm talking in general) doesn't know shit about videogames.

It is a production where my only thought was to burn my feelings into film. (Hideaki Anno)

Kill la Kill is awesome.
"This game has been like a light finally shining into what has been such a depressing time. I feel like this game has given me the power to go on living," the player wrote. "It's something like a miracle. It's helped me remember pure feelings from a more innocent time. I want to thank the development team."
"As game developers, our work is special," said Hayashida. "All of us here can put smiles on very many people's faces with our work."
