The Vita has been ahead of the Wii U for all but one week this year. It was also ahead for a majority of weeks last year. The reason the Wii U has caught up to some degree is because of a large sales gap during the holidays, not because it beats the vita "almost every week". Although even then, most of the catching up was done during the Wii U launch holiday. Over the last 14 months the Wii U has only outsold the Vita by 60k.
