Crimea historycally is a part of Russia. Same as 70% of Ukraine, inclyding Kiev. Also it never was a separate 'ukraine' state until 1991. So why not.

That's not true. The first Ukrainian nation existed 1917. Without crimea naurally.

Well, it took them some 20 years more, but they are following footsteps of the predecessor pretty closely :D Finding preceding states of "Ukraine" is really depends on how desperate you want to be, if I'm not mistaken they track down their history until the Kievan Rus', no less. Bastards!
