Lots of US states don't have sales tax and those that do tend to have a very low rate. Yes, you're getting horrifically ripped off. Solution? Import from Europe. Europe gets ripped off but nowhere near as bad as you do. If you keep paying ridiculous prices then they'll keep charging them.
