Remember when the Sega Genesis was "cool" and the SNES was the lame console for kiddies? Now the SNES is widely considered one of the greatest consoles of all time, with its classics ranked among the greatest games ever made.
Remember when disc-based media was the future and the N64 was a relic from the past, completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things? Cue Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye. The N64 is home to some of the most popular and influential games of the 3D era of console gaming.
It'll be a lot of fun when the GameCube and Wii are vindicated by history as well. It's inevitable. The GameCube will ultimately be remembered as a true bastion of outstanding software. The Wii, a masterpiece of affordable technology and new concepts. I'm quite looking forward to the day it's no longer popular to hate the Wii. I don't think that day is far off.
