My cat Salem also disappeared for three weeks and we thought she was dead, but one day, suddenly, she showed up in the kitchen meowing and looking for the food. She was a fat cat and when she came back she was incredibly thin. I think she ran away just to lose weight because we were saying she was fat xD.
Anyway, long live tripod!
