The man says he complained when the publisher didn't bother to press discs. In response to the late port statement, the guy says that they just did the coding and had no control over when it releases. It sounds like one of two things happened here: Either way, the late release seemed completely out of their control and they did talk to both Nintendo and EA to try to get it out more timely. |
He also mentions that they worked "through new year", so they did the best to finish the game (and they did a pretty good job I may add), but it was the publisher that chosed the release date and price, and that was one of the biggest complains about the game, it was a late port with a very high price when compared to the other console versions.
Nintendo failed specially because the game did feature some extra stuff exclusive for the console, so they could had marketed the game especially if you add that the line-up was not very strong during that time. But EA screw it up big time, by charging too much, no advertising at all and physical release delay in Europe as the developer mentions.
It was very sad to see such a good title get caught in the battle between the companies, and it was around this time that the "we are not going to work on any title for Nintendo" news came around
