I really dont see how it matters if DirectX12 comes to XBO or not?

Consoles will reach there limits pretty soon regardless.

The Xbox One gpu can hardly take full advantage of DirectX11 nevermind 12. It took quite a while before 11 was widely used on PC's..and considering how weak the console gpu's are its gonna take even longer for 12 to get adopted.

You are wrong to assume that new DX brings new features and thus requires more resources. This was case with previous versions of DX, but DX12 is all about low level implementation of same features. In other words, it allows devs to use same resources of gpu in much efficient way, similar to Mantle. Sony has always allowed devs to have low-level access to gpu, while MS has not, forcing use of DX with it's constaints. So this could bring nice perfomance improvements and much more freedom to optimise.

I do agree that DX11 will be the norm, but seeing that the PS4 only does mantle and DX11, and is the better selling console, I think that will set presidence over which will be used. Plus no news from gpu firms on DX12.

PS4 don't use DX at all, DX is MS proprietary. PS3 and PS4 use OpenGL, as well as low-level apis.

If this engine is even more dev friendly then the Unreal Engine 4, this could boost Windows 8 and PC gaming numbers.

DX is not an engine, it's a way for engine to speak with hardware. Everything on Xbox uses DX, UE too, because that's only way to program GPU on MS consoles.  New DX will allow all future engines to be more efficient on same hardware.
