Why can´t people just.... enjoy videogames ?
In this struggling market, we should be glad that we still have three main manufacturers around, each one providing great experiences.
Arguing and fighting over brand loyalty at this time is just.... pointless.... and lame. It´s the kind of attitude that does not help the market to grow. It does exactely the opposite.
Keeping a narrow minded approach to videogames will only do more damage to the industry. Of course not everyone can afford more than one console (myself included), but even so we shouldn´t downgrade the good games other consoles may offer, even if we are not able to enjoy them at home.
After all, all three manufacturers are having problems: Nintendo is not profiting regularly and must seek for new approaches - maybe even new business models - to survive in the future, MS as a company is doing well - as always - but the videogame division is still suffering with low sales, putting its existence on the doubt of its investitors, and Sony may have a profitable gaming division but the company overall is in a complicated financial situation with big debts, forcing it to close divisions and make some re-estructuring.
And ANY of them are being able to bring new consumers to the market, as now many people prefer to play games on PCs, phones and tablets and there´s a new generation of gamers who are simply ignoring consoles. Still, companies will find one way or another to survive, and the only losers with this blindness and arrogant brand loyalty approach will be just us: the console gamers.
