Why are Rpg's making a huge comeback

In case you didn't notice, these are just Squaresoft's highly rated worldwide releases. I think we need at least 1 decent JRPG per year to properly call it a comeback. It's unfortunate but the genre is dying.. commercially and critically :(

Breath of Fire III, Breath of Fire IV, Legend of Legaia, Star Ocean 2, Legend of Dragoon

Also Persona 2, Grandia, Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden 2 and more. But Squaresoft's internally developed games is more than enough to put the entire modern RPG industry (including Square's new self) to shame. I'm still puzzled about how they managed to make all these great games in just 4 years.

Well, Squaresoft was just squaresoft back then and they were AWESOME, then they merged or something with Enix and it went all downhill from there.... Whatever they got from Enix seems to have acted like a cancer and destroyed the awesomeness that was Square.
