Step 1: Learn what other people have come up with.

Step 2: Implement their ideas into my game.

Step 3: Profit.


There was a dev who tried to implement unintrusive storytelling merged into the gameplay. Kinda like Braid, but throwing everything at the player at the very climax of the game, while the player still has control of the character.
