Not according the VGChartz. DMC3 sold 2.09 million, and the Special Edition sold a further 2.21 million. So that's 4.3 million sales overall. It lists the sales for DmC as 0.68 millon on PS3, and 0.33 millon on Xbox 360, if you search DmC, it adds them together as 1.01 millon (so it's rounding them down slightly there). Even if we only consider the original release Devil May Cry 3 sold more than twice what DmC sold according to VGChartz figures. If you have more accurate figures by all means link them.

I prefer to use Capcom's numbers. Always official numbers when I have access to them. We can compare DMC3's special edition to DmC's special edition when the latter comes out but, in the meantime, DmC outsold DMC3.

No it didn't. Even if we use Capcoms figures, 1.4 million is still less than 2.09 million. DMC3 sold more.
