Maybe he did but Polygon didn't do anything, we really don't know. Maybe there's some stuff going on behind the scenes between PG and Sega, there's a reason why they want to be purchased by Nintendo. PG is most likely "mad" that Sega didn't greenlight Bayonetta 2 and PG don't want anything to do with them.
In any case, if you don't like stuff like this, you should get used to it. Social media have become the "people's blog" for basically anything, heck even countries revolutions have taken place on Facebook and Twitter.
This is not the first time and won't be the last time a developer does this, and in essence, he is right about "gaming journalism".
