I never thought I would say this but the metacritic (LOL) score for Spec Ops is below 8/10 so you can't really generalize and say that critics loved it.

I don't put any stock in metacritic myself, but perhaps I've overestimating it's critical reception in that case. From my perspective though, all the critics I follow had positive things to say about it so I consider that to be good reviews. Like I say though critics are often wrong and I rarely take critical reception into account when I buy a game. I'm far more likely to trust the opinions of friends and a few independent YouTubers I watch.
