Looks like quite a bit of the "one billion for games" went straight to EA. The more PS4 sells, the more it's going to cost Microsoft to get exclusive games and DLC. Eventually the cost will outstrip the advantages.

This I agree with this too, for established franchises.  Again, per my last quoted post, Titanfall is a NEW franchise that needed funding and backing to get off the ground.  That came from a deal with EA/Microsoft and Respawn.  How do we even know if Sony was ready to offer up ANY money to help this series get off the ground?

Sony doesnt need to offer money, they aren't desperate. They've got enough hot games coming from their own studio. Microsoft has been publishing third party games, funding second party and paying for exclusivity up the yin yang for this launch. Especially in Japan, Sony isnt going to pay very much outside of DLC. They cant play the money game with Microsoft because they cant and they don't need to.

Agree, but I never said Sony needed to offer anything.  I'm saying they probably DIDNT, which is not that same (from Respawns perspective).  Besides, a lot of this happened well before either system was released and we knew the sales numbers.

The respawn studio needed funding, and they made a deal with MS/EA.  If EA wasnt willing to fund it on their own, might have never became the game it is now withough MS funding.  So they entered into a win win contract.  MS exclusive.  Respawn funding (hiring devs, marketing, etc.)  Im sure it's not cheap for a dev to jump into the COD competition fray.
