Optimizing for xbox
ME:Xbox one cpu has 8cores which means more power compared to xbox 360 can cpu do any graphical calculations.
Friend &Me talk on this topic xbox one has 8 cores but only 6 are available same goes for ps4. He says both next gen cpu's are not powerful compared to previous generation. Cpu in xbox 360 can still be better than cpu in xbox one in some cases. But Microsoft has implemented a dedicated sound core which makes easier for developers to make use of cpu. I ask him is cpu in ps4 better than cpu in xbox one. He says he cannot comment in ghz but says if ps4 cpu would be powerful sony would be shouting everywhere we have a better cpu like they are doing with gpu. But dedicated sound core gives xbox one a upperhand.
ME:Ram problems
We both discuss esram is something not different to devlopers but he says gddr 5 is not the correct ram for cpu related calculations but sony has optimized the ram in a way that it works fine with cpu calculations. Microsoft chose ddr3 + esram solution is nice way to tackle situation but does not helps completely a multi-platform developer will not waste time optimizing his game for xbox one but first party developers will invest using the esram and tiled resources is something that Microsoft will improve and developers will start using esram fully. He says resolution is nothing but a small part of graphics. If a developers chooses to go for a high msaa he will opt for a lower resolution 900p but in future 1080p with higher msaa will be possible. What Microsoft did to tackle this issue was tiled resources ehich will get better in future and will let you store higher textures in small amount of esram.
Now we move to gpu he says ps4 gpu is clearly better but now when Microsoft announces that new directx xbox one gpu will have something to boost over With above given reasons developer will be able to do 1080p easily but due to smaller gpu 60fps can be a problem but new directx can improve performance and easily hit 60fps.
What is the use of cloud.
if a developer chooses to make an always online game he benefit a lot from cloud.
1st he can model all his characters,clothes,guns,weapons in cloud even lighting can be done in cloud which will provide developers a lot of power to be used on console. After that they can use cloud to handle ai other things can be done local on xbox one. Now if you know in a game their are lot of things which do not change think of it. In a game halo where most things in campaign remain same they all can be done in cloud but your internet bandwith is the problem. So small things like weapons,character clothes,ligthing can be done with a lower speed of internet.
So using all resources on xbox one makes it a superior console that thing time will only tell us but before that enjoy games and support xbox one
