If I was a developer I'd be pretty pissed that everyone seems so fixated on resolution instead of actual gameplay.

I do wonder what devs think of people getting their panties in a bunch over specs, and not about the game itself. I'd guess, like you said they'd be frustrated over it.

I think they'd be less pissed about the whining itself and more that with the machine in front of them they can't deliver a product that lives up to the expectations of their fans.(that's for PS4 as well)

Sure this debate is blown up to unnecessary proportions but there is an underlying reason. People only criticize something that is worse than what they experienced alsewhere. If they don't have something to compare it with they can't criticize.
