That said, it's not like Republicans don't do it too... just to a lesser degree. The new tax bill for example hurt videogame companies by cutting them out of a tax break for example. Though said bill takes from both what republicans and democrats have proposed.
So that very well could be a democratic proposal. (And considering republicans ideas on ending tax breaks. That seems likely.)
Also, Republicans can also blame violent videogames and culture for violence. Though they are less likely to call for bans/regualtion.
