Wanted to respond to this.

So your saying that Libertarians are good because they don't believe in God, and that God is the reason for the downfall for the Republican party. (despite early republicans still believing in God.)

I'm not rocketpig but I took what he meant as a moderate libertarian being akin to the old North-East brand of republicanism circa 1940 up to the point when the reactionary christian agenda hijacked the previous republican values. If I got that wrong I'm sure rocketpig will rip me a new one.

That pretty much sums it up. If you like, I can still try to rip you a new one, though.

The Republican's party line of touting the religious right defies the old principles of the party. In years past, Republicans were the ones who distanced themselves from religion. It sickens me to see the party change its stance so drastically and defy some of the core principles of the old Republican party.
