Super Mario 3D World - 93 (highest rated Wii U game)
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze - 82 (tied for 20th highest Wii U ranking)
How do you explain this gap? Btw, user scores on Metacritic for 3D World are 8.9 and 8.8 for DKC, a much smaller gap, and everything I've seen on this site and other sites like Amazon (both have five star averages) indicate that users like DKC as much as they did 3D World. But the critic begged to differ. Why? Is there a bias in favor of 3D games over 2D games? A bias in favor of Mario games over DK games? Or anger because Retro didn't make a Metroid game?
