Its pretty clear the lay offs were because of the cancelation and not the other way around, so ppl saying that its sad that the IP got canceled should be happy cause if it got canceled after quite a bit time working on it was either because it was sucking terribly or because the team wasnt managing to get the game to work properly at all.
Releasing crap would be worse for the studio then not releasing anything.
