I prefer a solid framerate over resolution.

With proper AA, a game in 720p can still look just fine. 60fps, on the other hand, makes the gameplay a lot more enjoyable. Better response, better animations, no judder...

When I game on PC, I try to set my games so they run in 60fps as much as possible. Sometimes, I need to lower the resolution to 1360 x 768 to achieve that. And the difference isn't all that detrimental to the visual presentation. It's a little more grainy, but nothing unbearable.

Although when my PC can afford it, 1080p @ 60fps is really gorgeous.

I must say that the most important thing of all is that the frame rate remains locked. Either at 30, or 60fps. The fluctuations are what distract the eyes.
