I honestly don't see where the hype for XV is coming from. The game has been developed in the same time frame as all XIII's. Square clearly did not have a clue with the XIII saga, so why would XV be any better?

And really, from 1 to X there wasn't much difference at all in the way you used the battle system. It was all tweaking and adjusting and adding. It worked. Every single time. Some better than others but nowhere near the mess (exaggerating here) that is XIII and will be XV.

You want to bring something new to the table, start a new IP. Don't ruin a perfectly fine series because you want your ideas to have a big audience. The audience will find you if you're that good.

I take it, like a lot of musicians do, SE has only been trying to get the bigger sales instead of focusing on creating something with balls, and a lot of heart.

Final Fantasy with Kingdom Hearts gameplay is pretty much how the hype started (and it being a PS3 exclusive at the time). KH's combat is pretty fun, and I'm sure XV's combat will be deeper since they won't have to cater to a younger audience.

I read that XV might have sequels, but at least they're thinking about it before releasing the first one. The story afterwards won't be that much of a mess since it will be planned (I hope).

Anyways, I would love to see another game like XII later down the road; I think it's one of their strongest titles in the last few years. The pacing & grinding were a little off, but it was a brilliant game with huge amounts of content. And it had Balthier; he's so sexy.

I figured the hype came from a disappointing preview of XIII and everyone thought that the 'dark-themed' trailer was gonna make them the best FF ever. Without having seen a single thing beyond that trailer the hype started.

Personally I really don't care for action hack n slash in a Final Fantasy. They are alienating a lot of their consumers while having hopes they will strike gold with some new ideas. All the while screwing up years of work with strangely brought stories, very weak characters compared to earlier games and milking a not so well received Final Fantasy.

XII I am not so sure about, I liked it but didn't feel very attached to the characters, the gameplay did not hook me nor did the story. At least not in a way earlier games had done. I agree on the Balthier part though.
