I also wanna add another bias to those comparisons. The comparison of metacritic scores are meaningful in "rough" terms, as the number of reviews for a game on certain platform as well as the reviewers are different. The only fair and accurate comparison would be "including a subset of the same reviewers on both platforms", and then batch compare or individually. Then compare what IGN or Gamestop or Eurogamer etc scored each version.
For example, you see an agregated score of 87 on PS4 and 89 on XB1 for Fifa 14, but this suggests that Fifa 14 is better on XB1, which is illogical given that those are vertically identical games. But when you look at the subset of the review by exactly the same reviewers, you see that both score identically.
