Good call.... I had the same thoughts grinding through my head but figured I'd go ahead and take the plunge. there was a card in the box to extend the warranty for 2 more years for 59.95 in the box. It supposedly covers the controllers also and I've read on other forums that they will send you a replacement controller quickly without requesting the old one back...  Keep in mind that is a microsoft warranty and not a best buy or gamestop one.  I know some have said they would rather be able to take it into the store, but I was too cheap to pay the additional tax plus 10 bucks discount (totaled $42).

If you are going to jump in, I used a coupon for buy.com and got $10 off plus free shipping so it was 388 to my door. (no tax) Also, walmart has some bundle deals online if you choose to go that route.

I think sunday is the last day, but they are running a buy 2 get one free on all used games. I picked up about 12 games or so in total -- mostly 360 but some original xbox also. There are some surprisingly good games on the original xbox under 10 bucks... All this plus live and you'll be busy for months...
