| Wighead said: The only thing that stops people from buying Xbone is the price. When you can buy a PS4 with, as to date, better grafix at a lower price, no matter what needed updates, missing features at launch or problems the two console were having, people will tend to go to the cheaper product. In the console world, pricing is everything, much more than actual features. You will have a hard time selling a console that is over a 400$ price point no matter the name or features your product is offering (the PS3 was a good example as it fail to sell at launch due to bad pricing and it was the successor of the mighty PS2). Another thing to take in consideration, these companies exist because of the hardcore gamers, but make profits out of the casual. |
You could be right. When I saw the jump in graphics from PS3 to PS4, the lack of features (like a real headset), no 3D Blu Ray support, and even simple apps (like a youtube app),software etc., it became pretty apparent to me that the PS4 is currently a pretty bare bones experience for the time being. If the Xbox One were priced lower with all of the stuff it offers, I think we would be looking at a different picture--in North America at least.
The lack of education and mob mentality has really hurt the Xbox One's chances. I actually think the One packs enough stuff in the box and comparable power to justify the price (Ps2 was same price as Xbox back when) but when a consumer sees $399 vs $499, it's hard to see anything else. Like you said, it's the same hurdle the PS3 had to overcome.
