I'm wondering about one thing I have not heard/seen Sony comment about the PS4. I remember that when the PS3 came out, they said that they would support it for 10 years. I did not remember hearing the same statement from Sony on the PS4.
If my upper comment is true, then I believe that the PS4 will have to pass the PS2 (sales) in half the time that it was in the market. I don't think the PS4 will have a 10 year cycle. 7-8 years is what I would give it. Technology is rapidly moving and people will dump 2k once 4k is cheap & VR may come into play.
This is all speculation on my part, but in order for Sony to keep up with the demand with graphic whores, it may just have to cut the life cycle down a few years to allow possible 3 screen display/VR/4K resolution gaming.
