I knew it. The event was practically your run of the mill variety show, just with more celebrities. It was pretty much on par with every other entertainment show you see in Japanese television.
That's what they do. Get a bunch of guests, let them do something and then comment/laugh about it.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
