LOL 360 got tons of JP games in the early days last gen especially in the JRPG department, it may of tailed of towards the end of the cycle a bit due to low 360 sales in Japan itself.

Why are you loling, those JRPGs were exclusives moneyhatted by Microsoft. Japanese developers wouldnt have made a single JRPG if it wasnt for that bag of money. Why limit yourself to the worst selling console? This line of thinking hurt the Japanese devs themselves in the long run because they missed out a lot of sales on PS3.

So true, and so sad.

I understand MS's motives, they wanted to break into the Japanese market, which had long since been impenatrable for them. To do this they moneyhatted basically ALL the top JP Game Devs to make games exclusives or just to bring it to them. Unfortunately this also led to many of these games completely flopping and JP Developers regretting that mistake later in the Gen. Vesperia performed poorly, as did Blue Dragon, Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery, etc. Then you have Lost Odyssey which got close to a million.....but MS only deals in AAA selling games and dismissed the short lived series after that. Capcom was ready to jump on the 360 bandwagon and get those bags of money but they also made the AWFUL assumption that their franchises all needed to be westernized to succeed. Same for SquareEnix.

Meanwhile, PS3 got virtually no exclusive JP content.....a hard first for fans of the genre and console. We got stuff like Valkyria Chronicles and Disgaea 3 which are both Niche but still sold better than most of the JP games on 360 oddly enough.

Now all the JP developers are BEGGING to be on Sony's platform, as the realize their strongest chance of survival is on Playstation. That is where the fanbase of these types of games lay and they should have never confused that with the Console's Userbase. Those bags of money did little to console wanning profits as they came to this realization.

Is it MS's fault that Japanese gamers didn't get 360 even though they had the most Japanese games on the market for 2 years?

Is it their fault that they only play their games and not western games? MS made a business decision, hired local devs to output local games and still gamers didn't back their own. As a cost conscious business firm MS "pulled out" rightfully and reigned in more significant markets.
