Unfortunately for your preferences, companies go where profits are to be made, not where the market's most frequent purchasers want things to go. Unfortunately for people who buy 20+ games per system they own, they are very much in the minority, and their impact on the market is considerably less than the droves of largely disinterested consumers who rarely get more than 3 games in the lifespan of their system. The next generation of systems aren't going to abandon the classic gamepad format entirely (as I said, they'll offer the gamepads as optional control devices), but the shift towards Wii-style controls is going to gradually phase the gamepad input device out. Just as with the joystick, they won't disappear entirely, but they're never going to regain the same dominance that they had in their prime.
Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.
