True but DKC isn't exactly meant for the "hardcore" nintendo fans like zelda ...

And who do you think pre-orders video games?

If a "hardcore" game like Zelda had such a big difference, then a "casual" game like DKC should have an even bigger difference. For example, when Just Dance was more popular, on VGC the games had at max 100k pre-orders, and as we know, those games had insanely high first week sales.

The problem is casuals also depend on the "image" of the console too. Despite the fact that the PS4 lacks something innovative as the WII mote it's still more popular than it's competing consoles because of "image".

So? That really doesn't have much to do with the big difference on VGC pre-order numbers and real first week sales.

The same has happened countless times with 360 and PS3 games, with "hardcore games". I remember Borderlands 2 having 500k pre-orders on 360 and the first week sales were 1 million.

Halo 4 had like 1.5 million pre-orders, the game sold 2.5 million first week.

Not 100% sure on this one, but I think Uncharted 3 had 600k pre-orders or something around that and it's first week sales were 1.3 million

And in all, you simple can't trust VGC when it comes to pre-orders.

At this point it's only the system sellers I think that will pull up some meaningful numbers. Bayonetta 2 is pretty much gonna be left out to die and monolithsoft's X is pretty much gonna stay under 800K.
