While I see what you mean, the original post was about an article which referred to the Kinect as a 'preipheral' in the sense of 'extra, non-essential device.' The word they opposed it with was 'pack-in.'
"Kinect is a peripheral, not a pack-in."
So rather than debate about what the word peripheral means IN REAL LIFE, especially with regards to COMPUTERS, this should be kept about debating it with regards to what the article writer was intending.
Otherwise, there's just going to be a bunch of back and forth arguments.
