I agree with some of your arguments.
Xbox One without Kinect would be stupid, as Kinect is the only thing that gives the Xbone something special/unique. Remove Kinect, and you have... a console that costs the same as a PS4, but has pretty much only disadvantages in comparison to it.
PS4 has an interesting/unique peripheral as well - as stereoscopic camera, theoretically technically capable of doing anything Kinect can, and even things that Kinect cannot do. I still consider not shipping every PS4 with it a stupid idea by Sony!
