You can unplug your Kinect and use the system, so it's not an essential part of the system except for Kinect games.

May have to spend some time improving usability without Kinect, but they can totally cut it.

It is true that it will still look like worse value than PS4 at $399 without a Kinect, but it'll be an improvement.

Indeed. And we've already seen MS quite quickly alter it's OS to accomodate consumer preference: Windows 8.1 bring back the start button because people don't want to use toughscreen as the primary interface with their desktop or even laptop.

So if MS can change Win8 to facilitate exclusive use of the mouse and keyboard to control the UI then they can change the Xb one UI to accomodate exclusive use of the controller.
