Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Party, New Super Mario Bros. are on the Wii U already.

I saw more Andre Agassi Wii Sports Wii U commercials over the holidays than any other Nintendo commercial in the last 3-4 years.

Wii Sports was a great demo for a NEW CONCEPT in 2006 called motion gaming that virtually no one had experienced before.

But motion gaming isn't anything special anymore, hence Wii Sports no longer has the same catchet on the market.

Wii Fit was also a huge system mover for the Wii, but as we've seen with "Wii Fit 3" (Wii Fit U) ... it hasn't done jack all to move Wii U systems, and Nintendo was even giving it away for free as a demo effectively.

The DS also would not have had anywhere near as much success without Nintendogs and especially Brain Training, but Nintendogs 2 and the latest Brain Training couldn't move the needle on 3DS sales.

Such a vastly different context between Wii U/3DS to Wii/DS that those points aren't as easy as they seem.

The most important part of that context is 3DS and Wii U are massively more expensive than their predecessors.  Especially when dealing with the expanded audience price is a huge concern.  We are on year two in the market and Wii U is still more expensive than Wii.  The same with the 3DS.  The DS got more expensive over time. Not right out at front.

Wii Sports - download only and the Wii mote isn't the primary controller for the system taking away tons of it's charm.
Wii Fit U- 100 on top of a console still more expensive than the Wii is why Wii Fit U wont work.
Wii Play - See Wii Sports
NSMBU - The game wasn't massively different from NSMB 2 which wasn't massively different from NSMB so there is a bit of fatigue.

Brain Training - The nature of Brain Training works best as a downloadable title and I think Nintendo has said it did pretty well that way. I might be off on that one
Nintendogs - came out with the system at it's $250 See Wii Fit U

There are tons of motion control games that simply never got made and could or should have. But 3rd parties were too busy shoving pixels onto the screen.  I bet there are still plenty of fun and novel applications for motion gaming. Just that AAA minded 3rd parties have never been the best ones at experimenting and finding new stuff. They stick to known profits.

International Track and Field and DDR are more primitive prior implementations of motion and fitness gaming.  Powerglove oh the power glove  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Glove. Motion controls are not new and have been for well before the Wii.

Motion controls have and still are capable of creating experiences so compelling and differentiating that people will purchase hardware for them.
