My largest argument against kinect has always been that the features that people are using from kinect could have been implemented in FAR cheaper solutions. Voice controls do not require $100-$150 in equipment. They could probably get 4-6 mics to handle that for pennies on the dollar. Face and body scanning stuff can be done with regular cheap cameras for pennies on the dollar(maybe not in the dark but even ir projectors at that scale of economy should be cheap). They just needed a better API. Xbox one seems to be just like their computers and operating system. Over engineered for the vast majority of peoples needs. Needlessly complex unless you are in that 10-15% of the market that uses very niche professional power software that costs thousands of dollars.
