By that logic they should release one every week. With a finger pointing gif and an X1 logo next to it.

it has higher impact to wait for large differences, here the logic is being able to show a large difference in sold through figures over a small time frame, as a week from now they can release another announcement stating anything from 5.7-6m sold through, possibly even more if they have been stocking up in Japan, what people then see is "wow it went from 5.3m to 6m in a week" rather than "oh they had a big launch", people generally focus on raw numbers rather than the reason behind them.

Ps4 is crushing XB1 w/o Japan. I think that is what they are so eager to point out. Once Japan is added on it will be a massacre. I honestly think PS4 will have a 50%(WiiU+XB1=PS4) marketshare before the holidays if not it will be close.
