The ps3 is 2.5 years old, and I hadn't touched it in the last 6 months except to play The Last of Us dlc which came out this past Friday. I waited an hour and tried turning it back on but got nothing but a blank screen. I tried a new hdmi and resetting the video output to no avail. Anyone know whats wrong with it? I've been reading online and it sounds like the gpu is dying/dead. Is it fixable? Now I have a delema on my hands. Dark Souls 2 is coming out in a few weeks and it was going to likely be the last ps3 game I'd get before transitioning into the next gen. I have a laptop capable of handling Dark Souls 2 but I'd much rather play on console bc of the pvp community. Also, I have it pre ordered (for ps3), tho I likely can cancel it. What should I do? |
Reflowing the Motherboard is pretty much the only way to fix this. Unless you identify and resolder the solder points on the motherboard and gpu that is causing this problem. If you don't know how to reflow it I recommend you watch a video or you simply sell it on Ebay... But if your not afraid to at least try and you feel you have nothing to lose, then go ahead and attempt it. It's worth a shot.
