You sometimes get extra stuff like a new helmet, boots, pants or whatever for heroes. They are 100% purely aesthetics, they don't affect the heroes in any way.
You also sometimes get treasure which have very rare items in them, however you will have to buy a key in order to open them.
On the new event you get a gift scroll or something like that, and as someone who has played 800 hours of Dota 2, I have no idea what they are for 
This event kinda sucks tbh, don't see the point in it.
