As i said before, they have the consumer trust. Thats why its selling even though it has no games.
This is not just something like last years support. Sony has proved to deliver the good with the PS1, the PS2 and even with the awfully launched full of problem PS3. Any customer under these circunstanaces will feel complete trust on buying the next Playstation cause they know they will get due value for it.
Yeah... treating customers like someone you care about really works versus "pissing" on them. If only Microsoft and EA would learn that eh? Well too late! They already blew it. Trust is not something to easily achieved. Especially when you treat your customers badly, it will be especially difficult to recover. It a process that takes years and years. Sony got it right.
