I don't see what "special detection software" they could have. Generally with P2P(Torrents, Limewire, etc) you have to actually be engaged in the download to see the IP addresses of the people downloading the software itself, right? So in turn, the companies engaging in hunting down these people are doing the illegal act of engaging in the download just to see the people that are downloading the software.
